Test tone

A simple stereo check

  1. Lower your device volume before starting. Select the correct output in your system settings.
  2. Play the left channel, then the right. Sound should come from the selected side. Use stereo to hear both.
  3. Adjust balance or tone frequency gently. Stop if the sound is uncomfortable; an inaudible tone is not a reason to increase volume.

Good to know

Why do both speakers play a single channel?

Check whether mono audio is enabled in your system accessibility settings. Also check cable connections, output selection and any audio processing software.

Can this certify my speaker quality?

No. Test tones help you listen for channel differences, but this browser tool does not measure acoustic sound pressure, impedance or hearing ability.
